The Other Space Foundation, together with Warszawski Klub Wodniaków PTTK and The Academic Association of FoA WUT, invites artists, architects, designers, researchers, filmmakers, video artists, performers, musicians, community animators and other interdisciplinary contributors to join OASis Warsaw 2026.

This year's Warsaw edition will take place in two distinct OASes and two residency periods: 

• OASis #1: Warszawski Klub Wodniaków PTTK (26 July – 3 August 2026),
• OASis #2: Open Studio Jazdów (18 September – 2 October 2026).

Applicants may express interest in one or both residency contexts. The final selection will assign each selected contributor to one residency only.

Can a harbour become an even more vibrant cultural, social and community space?

The first Warsaw OASis Residency will take place at Warszawski Klub Wodniaków PTTK, a long-standing community harbour and water tourism centre located on the banks of the Vistula River in Warsaw. For decades, the club has brought together boaters, kayakers, river enthusiasts and local residents while serving as a base for water tourism, recreation and community activities.

This residency is dedicated primarily to the harbour itself and its future development as an open, welcoming and interdisciplinary public space.

Together with members of the club, local residents, river users and visitors, we will explore how artistic, architectural, educational and community-based activities can strengthen the role of this unique place while respecting its traditions and identity.

The main focus will be the harbour, its community and its immediate surroundings. At the same time, selected activities may also extend to other urban water spaces in Warsaw — including boats, floating or riverside locations, waterways, riverbanks and canals. In this sense, the residency will connect the specific identity of Warszawski Klub Wodniaków PTTK with the wider potential of Warsaw’s urban waters.

We are particularly interested in projects that combine artistic practice, co-creation and practical interventions within the harbour and around water-based public spaces. We welcome ideas that help activate the site, strengthen its community dimension, improve its accessibility and openness, create opportunities for cultural and social exchange, or contribute to the long-term development of the place.

We are looking for contributors interested in:

• participatory architecture and small-scale constructions,
• street furniture, temporary structures and bottom-up spatial interventions,
• creative DIY, guerrilla structures and low-cost public space solutions,
• placemaking and community-oriented design,
• music, sound and performance projects,
• video art, filmmaking, photography and creative documentation,
• visual arts, mural art and public art,
• community animation and cultural facilitation,
• artistic activities connected with water, recreation and tourism,
• interdisciplinary projects combining art, ecology, education, local engagement, active recreation or sport.

We especially value proposals that involve collaboration with local users of the harbour, boating and kayaking communities, residents and visitors.

OASis #2: Jazdów OASis

"For me the most important thing is to find a place where I could play an active role in a community. If I could do it in the city, with the people dearest to me and for example completely remodel one block, I would love to do it. Unfortunately it's very expensive and has many regulations, so it's almost undoable."

Is it?

The Academic Association of the Faculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology, host of Open Studio Jazdów, is announcing Jazdów OASis.

The residency is based at Wolny Jazdów, an independent community of Finnish houses settlement built in 1945 in the heart of Warsaw. Our socio-cultural and educational centre is located just 300 metres from the Polish Parliament. Wolny Jazdów is a unique place where dozens of non-governmental organisations and informal groups, together with Jazdów residents, care for its exceptional natural environment and heritage, maintaining it as a space open to anyone seeking a pause from the rush of everyday life.

We invite artists to explore the theme of gentrification, which is increasingly interfering with the unique character of Jazdów. Our community village, composed of 26 autonomous communities in wooden houses, is grounded in empathy, cooperation and inclusivity. Its non-profit orientation, principled commitment to openness and the absence of financial barriers to entry stand in tension with the pressures of the free market, which appears to be a driving force in one of Poland's most commercialised cities.

Who we're looking for

We welcome artists interested in developing participatory, socially engaged practices with strong educational and/or community-focused components. While we particularly encourage applications from artists interested in working with children, youth and local communities, we welcome submissions from artists working on projects of broader social relevance.

The residency will focus on a wide range of artistic fields, including:

• Architecture and spatial planning
• Spatial design and installation art
• Interior and community-oriented design
• Filmmaking and audiovisual media
• Visual arts: sculpture, photography, illustration and graphic arts

Artists from any other discipline are equally welcome. We value multidisciplinarity and are open to any practice that can generate real impact within the community.

Residency Activities

We expect applicants to propose concrete ideas for their time at the Jazdów OASis. Activities may include workshops, co-creation sessions, personal artistic but community-based projects, training initiatives or other artistic interventions — but you have full creative freedom. What matters is generating meaningful engagement and producing specific outputs relevant to the local context.

The specific focus of each residency will be discussed and refined during the selection phase.

Selected contributors: 2 contributors - 1 international contributor, 1 Warsaw-based contributor.
